How to use Assistant
Cubby’s AI assistant is your personal AI assistant available on every single piece of content in Cubby. Whether its a PDF or a YouTube video, you can chat with Assistant to ask questions, reformat content, and more!
Every single answer you get back comes with sources that you can click to jump to the exact point in a piece of content, meaning you’ll always know exactly how Assistant came up with an answer!
What can I chat with?
You can chat with any kind of post individually, or a whole Cubby!
How do I start a chat?
- From within the reader, you can click “New chat” in the sidebar or go cmd+k → “New chat”
- From the feed, right click any post to see assistant chat options
- To chat with a Cubby, right click one in the sidebar and click “New chat” (or continue chat)
What kinds of questions can I ask?
Cubby Assistant is great at a variety of tasks. It especially excels at:
- Summarizing key ideas
- “What are the main ideas discussed around design and city planning?”
- Finding related quotes
- “Find all the quotes related to design and city planning”
- Turning a piece of content into something else
- “Find the main points in this article and turn it into a tweet thread”

Limitations
Unfortunately, AI is limited in how much content it can understand at once without getting confused and making up incorrect answers to questions (also called hallucinating). In order to combat this we need to limit the size of your conversation with AI, and will tell you when you’ve hit the limit.
Some services try to use a method that searches for the most important info from your content, then uses that to answer your question with. However, this would mean there’s parts of your content that the AI never sees. This can lead to low quality answers or hallucinations, which is why we don’t do this.
The amount of content the AI can handle is constantly improving, and for most people this well never be a problem. But if it happens, there’s a few options:
